Dry coconut is a simple dry form of coconut. Technically, the fresh coconut is dried in the sun before it is pressured out to remove oil from it. The water in the coconut dried up and the coconut turns dry. This resulting dry coconut is white to off-white in color.
Desiccated coconut is an ideal source of healthy fat that contains no cholesterol and contains selenium, fiber, copper, and manganese. One ounce of desiccated coconut contains 80% healthy, saturated fat. Selenium is a mineral that helps the body produce enzymes, which enhance the immune system and thyroid function.
STORAGE & USES
You can put it out in your kitchen, in the refrigerator, or in the freezer. Packaged dried coconut will last for 4-6 months on the counter and 6-8 months in the fridge or the freezer. Put it in an airtight container.
